Default 24 gallon aquapod

I picked up a 24 gallon aquapod, with the worlds smallest skimmer, MH hqi 70 watt 10k sun paq fixture, bow front. getting ready to set it up. decision time. Ive been thinking on removing the bio balls, using a cut to shape piece of "starboard" white poly sheet, 1/4 " thick to "simulate" white sand, adding LR, and pack it with frags. Im gonna test this lil skimmer out in the big system and see how it goes.

The aquapods seem to be gaining in popularity especially with local reefers around here. What do you plan to keep in the tank, mostly SPS corals? Lately I've been thinking about converting my tank from dsb to starboard, though I'm still not sure. Do you plan to silicone the starboard in place? I've read where some people have problems with detrious buildup underneath the starboard. Snap some pics if you get a chance and keep us updated on the progress of your aquapod.

I was wondering the same thing, and since its new I guess sealing it in would be the thing to do. I guess sps seeing as tho the lighting is all set up for you. Im used to my 90 gallon fish/coral reef, at first I wanted to pipe it into the shared sump. Seems this is a glass bowfront. Tested the mini skimmer and it does produce skimmate but its competing against a ozone injected bullet1 so, guess whos winning the skimmoff? I will be taking pictures, just gotta decide on the base.

Skimmer update,

That lil skimmer does work pretty well, im getting a nice thick skimmate, almost the vicosity of motor oil, even while the big skimmer is competing against it.

Got a pic? I'd like to see the world's smallest skimmer.

Nice setup... I had that little skimmer on my 2.5 gallon Nano... MAN that thing produces skimate. Real nice and stinky too. I definately would silicone that starboard to the base but make sure that your silicone is virgin. The starboard will grow coraline on it and you will eventually loose the white color.
