Propogating Ricordea w/2 mouths

Ok all, this is probably gonna be a stupid question. I have a ricordea that i have "natured" forever. I just noticed 2 days ago that it now has 2 Mouths!! I am dumbfounded by this cuz i cant get my parameters(nitrate) stable. At any rate, my question is, how long do i wait before i cut that beautiful speciman in half? Right now the 2 mouths are about 1/4" apart
