Can I salvage these yellow polyps???

I have found a few of the polyps that I gave up for dead. It seems they are not quite gone yet, though I have significantly less than when I started. Do these look salvagable? If so, how can I propogate them to get them to grow back again? Should I reglue some of them to another, single, larger piece of rock? How long can they be out of water when you glue them? A million questions...sorry. I think they have been coming around because they are in the same area as my single button polyp and I've been spot feeding plankton in that area.

If they are opening up then they still can be saved. If your xenia is doing ok then they polyp should still survive.

If they are opening up then they can be salvaged. Are they attached to some rubble or are they free floaters that have landed on the bottom? If they are attached to some rubble of some sort then just superglue them to a larger piece of rock and they should be fine. They will take a little time to grow into a small colony.

The polyp in the second photo is attached to some rubble so just glue or epoxy it wherever you want in your rockwork.

It would seem I have 4 polyps that are continuing to open now. I glued the rocks and rubble together to a larger rock. We'll see how long they last.

Well, my snails have gone and steamrolled my yellow polyps again. I think I'm down to two now.

Those pesky snails! :D :p

How big are those snails? And what kind?

EvilTwin 03-07-2006 05:19 PM

They are trochus snails. Got them from Foster&Smith. Ioriginally had 6, one died. Then there were 5. What I like about them is that they can flip themselves over when they fall off rocks, unlike my one remaining turbo snail. I had 5 of those to start with.
