Truck Fire

I am so upset. Today about 10 minutes after we got home doing some running. We hear someone pounding hard on our front door. I look out our front window to see our 2005 Ford F150 litterly up in smoke. I started screaming for my hubby. In a matter of minutes the truck was engulfed. Good thing is no one got hurt, But the nerves are shot.

:eek::eek: Holy Cow! What started the fire? I'm glad to hear that no one was hurt.

Teeka01 05-05-2006 05:39 PM

No one knows what started it. The fire marshall said he thinks it started somewhere in the cab.

Yikes! That is absolutely crazy. That is one of those things that you just don't expect to happen. Maybe some faulty wiring? I hope that your insurance will foot the bill for a new truck. I'm very sorry to hear about your misfortune. I wish that there was something that we could do to help.

We had full coverage on the truck. We just have a 500 deductable on it. They said they would pay the loan off. We will still have to have a down payment on another truck.

Teeka01 05-08-2006 05:38 PM

The truck is now gone. The insurance company has towed it off at my insistance. It was hard enough having to look at it all weekend. It was really sad to see it go.:(

 Did you ever figure out what the cause was?

Teeka01 05-08-2006 08:10 PM

No, not yet. The fire inspectors report will not be ready until Wednesday.

Teeka01 05-12-2006 09:17 AM

We haven't seen the fire report yet, but after the fire inspector talked to the witness this is what the FI determined that The official report will read that the fire started from an undetermined source in the bed area. We are not to be blamed for it.

Glad to hear that there was a witness to confirm that you were not at fault. That should make it easier to get the insurance company to cough up the cash for a new vehicle.

We finally got a new truck. We got a 2006 Nissan Frontier with the nismo sports package. We walked away from the other truck loan free. The insurance didn't cover anything that was in the truck or the tool chest. If we hadn't got the gap insurance when we bought the truck we would of still owed about 7,000 on it. I will post pictures of the new truck when I can get some. My hubby works long hours.

How do you like the nissan compared to the ford?

Teeka01 05-30-2006 07:17 PM

To be honest I prefer the Nissan, It is a mid size truck. It is easier for me to handle. Better gas mileage, the ford cost about $60 a week and the Nissan is about 45 a week. The engine isn't even broke in yet so the gas mileage will get better. It still has the room needed to hull my husband's band equipment in the cab. Due to it being a little smaller it has more pick up and go. The engine in the Nissan is a V6, the ford was a V8. And my hubby has decided not to speed anymore with the new truck...LOL.

It seems as though this is a common problem with Ford trucks - http://www.consumeraffairs.com/autom...f150_fires.htm

It is a good thing that the truck was not parked in the garage.
