filters

i am switching my fish only to a reef tank. what kind of filter would help out the most. i am currently using a canister filter that i just recently bought within the past month. i was using an aqua clear 50. i have a berlin 33" skimmer and a uv sterilizer. i want a refugium but that will come when the money comes? i plan on keeping some soft corals and some lps.

my tank is a 29 gal regular with a 250 watt 20k mh

The canister filter and the aquaclear (when using filter floss or sponge material) will promote the growth of aerobic bacteria which will contribute to the nitrate level. All you really need is live rock, refugium, and an efficient skimmer. Since you already have a canister filter you could use it with small amounts of carbon that is changed frequently.
