What do they mean by aggressive and semi aggressive in corals? I've seen tanks where the corals all seem to be side by side and touching yet when you read about specific corals it says to leave 6 or more inches between them.
Can someone elaborate?

I will try to answer your question. Some coral have tenicles that come out and sting a coral if it gets too cllose. Not all corals have them.

Correct Teeka,

But they don't necessarily need to have tenticals... Some use chemical warefare to create room for growth. Most corals within the same species will not fight each other. But of different genuses will. The level of agression is based on how prob the corals are to attack surround corals for food, nutrients, and/or growth space. Most of the Tenticals can be catergorized into two duties: One is food harvesting and collecting, and the other is a specialized sweeper tentical that is use for warefare.
