Here is a photo of a very fast growing monti cap.

I will soon have to rearrange the entire tank because my monti caps are about to clash. There is about an 1/8" gap between them.

When I got the purple monti cap frag last year it was about the size of a half dollar. Now it is maybe 6-7" across.

Here is a top down shot. Had to slide the lights over to get the full cap in the pic.

Here is an orange one - a little blurry though.

Nice caps. I have a few but the don't seem to grow as fast as I want them too. LOL

Yeah the orange one is a real slow grower.
The growth of the purple one has exploded over the past year. I literally have had to reposition other corals to keep the cap from growing into them. I can almost see the difference in growth from week to week.

where do you have the purple cap positioned in the tank and with how much flow?

The purple cap is positioned about 6 inches below the water's surface so it gets a pretty good amount of light. Flow on the other hand is moderate. I have other corals blocking a lot of the flow so it does not receive too much direct flow, but this doesn't seem to be too much of a problem. I will be restructuring the entire tank soon and will make this piece and my tort the center pieces of the tank and structure everything else around them. I'm not looking forward to it though as it will be difficult to move the cap without breaking it, but I really have no choice. :(

Well I hope I can move it without any unintentional fragging. ;)
But I'll let you know.
I'll take some before and after shots of the transition. Not sure when I'm going to do it though but it'll be sometime during the next couple of weeks.

Luckily I was able to move the cap without mishap. It has a great growth pattern right now. It is growing pretty fast and is probably around 7 or 8 inches at the widest point.
